Post-Training Recovery Routine

This post-training recovery routine is built for athletes immediately after training sessions, to speed up recovery and reduce muscle soreness before it has a chance to set in. Total time: 30–45 minutes.

Step 1: Cool Down Movement (5–10 mins)

Light jogging or walking to gradually lower heart rate. Stopping abruptly after hard training can leave blood pooled in the legs, so easing out of intensity gives the body a smoother transition into recovery mode.

Step 2: Stretch & Mobility (10 mins)

Focus on trained muscle groups to reduce tightness and improve flexibility. Spending even a few extra minutes here as part of a post-training recovery routine can meaningfully cut down on next-day stiffness, especially after leg-heavy sessions or long practice blocks.

Step 3: Recovery Tools Session (10–15 mins)

Use ASR recovery tools to improve circulation and reduce muscle fatigue. This step is often the most overlooked part of a post-training recovery routine, even though it does much of the heavy lifting for reducing soreness and speeding up next-day readiness.

Recommended ASR tools: Portable Power Compression Boots and the Power Flex Wrap, both built to speed up circulation in tired legs, knees, and shoulders after a demanding session.

Step 4: Nutrition Recovery (5–10 mins)

Consume protein and carbohydrates to support muscle repair. Refueling within this window helps the body start rebuilding muscle tissue right away instead of waiting until the next meal, when the recovery window has already started closing.

Step 5: Track and Repeat

Make this routine a habit after every session, not just the hardest ones, so the body gets consistent support to adapt and get stronger over time instead of accumulating fatigue week after week.

Pro Tip: The first 60 minutes after training is the most important recovery window for athletes, which is exactly why this routine is designed to be done right away rather than put off until later in the day.
